Rent or buy? The neutral cost comparison
Your figures, your assumptions: the calculator only works with what you enter. No yield promises, no recommendation – just the total costs side by side.
Enter a monthly rent and a purchase price – or pick a project – to see the comparison.
- Renting – rent paid
- Buying – net costs
Interest on your capital is not included (0 %) – you can add a rate under “Assumptions”.
A negative value means: with your assumptions, the condo is worth more at the end than everything paid.
Year by year (table)
| Year | Renting (total) | Buying (paid) | Lost interest (assumption) | Value (assumption) | Buying (net) |

How the calculation works
- Renting: monthly rent × 12, rising each year by your rent increase.
- Buying: purchase price and buying costs at the start, plus the running costs every year.
- Value of the condo: the purchase price, changing each year by your assumption (0 % = unchanged).
- Net costs of buying = everything paid + lost interest (if you enter a rate) − assumed value at the end.
Not included
- Financing and loan interest
- Costs and taxes when you sell later
- Rental income
- Exchange rate changes
- Rent until handover for off-plan projects – the calculation assumes you move in right away
Non-binding example calculation, no investment or tax advice.
